“Her mom doesn’t know,” I finally admitted.
“No shit? Now I really wish this was a brew because, bro, you’re in it thick. Take my advice man, cut your losses and get out now,” he added, draining the last of his drink.
“I can’t, man,” I said, raking my hands through my hair.
“Why not? You already said you’re not tapping it, so you’re not tied down.”
“Because I think I’m in love with her.”
“Shut the F up, are you serious? Dude, I don't know,” he said, shaking his head.

Chael's Luck Blog Tour!

Hi Everyone,

Welcome to the blog. Today we have a special guest and it’s Chael from Chael’s Luck. We gave him a few questions and he was nice enough to answer them. So let’s get started:

1. How would you describe yourself Chael?
Physically, I’d have to say I’m not very impressive.  I’m a good head shorter than all the other Knights and not nearly as strong as the rest of them.  If you mean character wise, I’d like to think I’m honorable, that I care about others, and that I would be man enough to do the right thing no matter what others thought of me.

2. Did you always want to be a knight?
Yes.  No questions about it.  It’s a tradition in our family.  The firstborn son always becomes a Shadow Knight.  It’s been my life’s ambition to become one.

3. How does it feel to be the shortest and smallest knight?
I honestly try not to think about it.  Most of the time it’s not much of an issue simply because most of the others have grown up with me and are used to me being different.

4. Do you get teased about it and if so how do you handle it?
Of course, there are always those like Caleb who enjoy making fun of me and making my life miserable.  I just try to ignore them and focus on what’s important in life like my family and those who are my friends.

5. Do you think your mother would like you being a knight?
Do you know, I’m not entirely sure.  I’d like to think she would be proud of me and the hard work I’ve put into becoming a Knight.  Of course, had she lived instead of dying giving birth to me, life may have turned out completely different.

6. What challenges have you come across in your training?
In hand to hand combat, obviously, I’m at a disadvantage when it comes to the reach of my punches and kicks.  I’m also not as strong as the rest of the men, but I’ve found that using slaggens, a type of short sword, as opposed to the regular Knight’s sword keeps me quick and gives me an advantage because of my speed.

7. Describe your three best friends.
Harry and Hal are twins.  When I first began training, I was sure that the pair of them would be the ones to give me a hard time.  I mean, the first thing they did was make fun of the fact that I am named Chael after the god of bad luck.  It turns out they just like to joke around and have been a constant and good part of my life.  Mac has always been there to encourage as well.  Unfortunately, the past little while, he’s been spending a lot of time with Caleb and even though he doesn’t take part in the razzing and the beatings Caleb likes to give me, it hurts to see him standing by and watching.

8. I feel there is a secret that you are keeping, can you tell us?
I suppose I can tell you that yes, I do have a secret, but for as much as I would like to tell someone, I can’t tell you what it is.

9. If not, why is it really bad?
It just is.  Should anyone find out what my secret is, I could be banished from the knighthood, maybe even exiled from Gleama itself.  My father would more than likely be imprisoned, if not hanged.  I’m sure there would be repercussions for my aunt and uncle since they know of it as well.  It is best that no one ever find out.

10. Do you have a girlfriend?
No.  At least, not really.  I’ve recently just found out that the Princess is interested in pursuing a relationship.  Now, don’t get me wrong.  She is beautiful and intelligent and well, she’s the princess.  However, how is a man with a secret as shocking as mine supposed to think of women or even the possibility of having a future with one?  All I really need to concentrate on is getting through the Knights’ Initiation so I can leave on patrols and I can stay out of Gleama and away from those who might get close enough to discover what I’m hiding.

Thanks you for having me today, Carol and Adam! It’s been a pleasure.

Wishing For Someday Soon Blog Hop!

Hello everyone!

So do we have a treat for you on the blog today :D We've been asked by the ever so lovely author, Tiffany King, to be a stop on her blog hop for her wonderful new YA contemporary novel, Wishing For Someday Soon. Not only do we have an excerpt from the book, but we also have a chance to win some really awesome prizes! Read on for the goods:

Book Synopsis:

Seventeen year old Katelyn Richards is a stronger person than anyone will ever know, and that is just the way she wants it. Behind her normal façade, lies the reality of a broken home life. Thanks to her abusive mother, a string of deadbeat stepfathers, and an unsympathetic system, Katelyn has learned that the only one she can count on is herself. Her life’s mission has become to shield her nine year old brother, Kevin, and to give him the future that they both wish for. A life with no more abuse, no worries about where their next meal will come from, and no more wondering if they will have a roof over their heads.
When her mother moves them again, this time to a small town in Montana, Katelyn’s resolve is shaken when she meets Max, a cute boy from her new school who gets a glimpse into her real world. Max slowly manages to break through Katelyn’s wall of distrust, stirring up feelings she never saw coming. Now with her world more complicated than she ever intended, Katelyn struggles with the decision to follow her heart into the arms of the first boy she has ever loved. A decision that could risk the promise she made to protect Kevin, and to give them the ‘someday soon’ that is so close within their grasp.

Book excerpt:

“I hate her when she hits you.”
“No, you don’t. You just don’t like it,” I said, scolding him softly.
“Why do you defend her?”
“Because she’s our mom, if we don’t defend her, who will?”
“Well, I still don’t like her to hit you,” he Added stubbornly.
“I know, but better me than you with your chicken arms,” I joked, reaching over to pinch his arm softly.
“Very funny, sis. One of these days I’m going to grow up, and then we'll see,” he mumbled, drifting back off to sleep.
“I hope so,” I said softly to his sleeping form, pulling the blanket up over us before I drifted off to sleep.
